Getting to, from and around Birmingham

From London, visitors can arrive by train via Birmingham Snow Hill from London Marylebone or from London Euston station, Birmingham New Street, the city's main and central station.

Birmingham city centre is very easy to get about by foot, perfect for a short city break, however, if you are heading out to the outskirts, the city's public transport system links well to the suburbs.

From the north, or other areas, Birmingham Airport is a 10-15 minute rail journey from the city centre.

Things to do in Birmingham

Birmingham is a great shopping city. With the likes of the fantastic Bull Ring Shopping Centre and the infamous Jewellery Quarter, you'll find yourself wandering the streets and heading in and out of the stores as you explore the city.

Museums are also aplenty in Birmingham. Try the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery or the Pen Museum for a little culture.

For those who like to head out on the town at night, Birmingham's city centre has some great bars and restaurants to enjoy, like Pure Bar & Kitchen where you can choose from over 100 different beers to gulp down with your pie and piccalilli.

Where to stay in Birmingham

The heart of Birmingham is your best bet for a city break in Birmingham. Hotels in the city centre aren't ridiculously expensive. The areas around Birmingham's New Street and Moor Street stations are perfect for easy access to the city by foot.

If you're in the city for a trip to Edgbaston, or up near Villa Park, these are also easily accessible by bus if your hotel is in Birmingham City Centre.
