Living in London, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about and experience the city, and that includes its fantastic theatre scene. With that in mind, I'm a big fan of TodayTix, offering discounted tickets to musicals, comedies, and much more, all taking place the same day or up to a week before the performance. It's a great app to have on your phone for those days when you need a bit of inspiration.
Having walked past the Duchess Theatre on Catherine Street time and time again, seeing The Play That Goes Wrong in bright lights, it certainly looked like something I would enjoy, a bit of slapstick humour, mixed in with some very witty lines. At £28 a ticket, it's not the cheapest seat in London, but book early enough and you can get tickets from just £20 per person.
The show revolves around the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, who are putting on a 1920's murder mystery play for the audience. As you can imagine, throughout the course of the play, everything goes wrong, even down to the smallest details, however, it's intricately thought out to provide the audience with some clever, yet incredibly daft puns and set that turns into an absolute catastrophe for the cast. It's a type of comedy that may not be to everyone's taste and at times there was so much going on on the stage I wasn't sure where to be looking, however, this has definitely been a show I would recommend to brighten up a dull and gloomy Sunday afternoon.
