Holidays To Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is home to some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands. Head out to the long expanses of soft sand up towards Corralejo in the north of the island, or towards Jandia, further south, and you'll also get to splash about in Fuerteventura's beautiful turquoise waters. Known for it's windy weather, Fuerteventura is also a popular spot for windsurfing and kitesurfing in Europe, but many holidaymakers choose the island for its laid back lifestyle.

Holidays To Tenerife

Tenerife is a great all round sunny holiday destination, whether you're a family looking to getaway in Summer, a couple seeking a relaxing break with a few activities, or a group of friends needing plenty of nightlife to let your hair down. There really is something for everyone and and it's definitely not tacky either. You might be surprised that it's not all about partying and lounging by the pool, with activities like kayaking with dolphins, waterparks and festivals to enjoy too. Of course, there are some great all inclusive hotels in Tenerife too, if all you want to do is sit by the pool and enjoy a cocktail or two.

Holidays To Gran Canaria

Another great option for your next Canary Islands holiday is Gran Canaria. Resorts along the south coast are busier and great for a lively getaway in the sunshine. Otherwise try one of the smaller beach resorts dotted about the island. It's the "capital" of the Canaries so you'll find it's well connected and there's plenty going on.

Perhaps not the most famous for its white sandy beaches, Lanzarote is better known for its volcanic, black sand beaches and is a great family holiday destination. From luxury resorts to cheap self catering apartments, there's something to suit all budgets. For something a little different, try exploring the Cesar Manrique trail and find hidden art around the island.

When To Go

There really is no best time to visit the Canary Islands. The weather is good year round, reaching the 30s in the summer and late teens to early 20s in the winter months. If it's winter sun you're after, the Canary Islands are a great choice, offering around six hours of sunshine a day in December and January, which is why many expats choose to spend several months in the islands to escape the cold fo the UK.

The summer school holiday months of July and August can get hot (and hotel prices can be higher), so making sure you've got a pool at hand or you're near the beach is important. If you're choosing a villa holiday in the Canaries during the summer, make sure to get one with a private pool.

The climate during spring and autumn is perfect. With an average 8 hours of sunshine a day in April, May, September and October. It's worth noting that some hotels don't have heated pools, so particularly during the winter months, they may be a bit cold to use, as is the sea. It's the Atlantic Ocean here so sea temperatures are cooler.

Cruises To And Around The Canaries

You'll find that most of the big cruise companies will offer cruises to the Canary Islands, stopping in ports like La Palma and Arrecife, allowing you to jump off and either take an organised excursion to see more of the islands or simply get off and wander of your own accord. Most cruises, have a number of prebooked excursions available per port so there's usually something you'll like.

You might find that some cruises start or finish in the islands, allowing you to fly into Tenerife, for example, and spend a few days enjoying the island before you join the ship and sail around the other islands. If you don't know which island to choose, a cruise in the Canaries can be a great option.

The Canaries are ideal for a destination wedding or honeymoon. Many resorts cater for wedding parties, with set packages to choose from or tailored experiences to be created. Whether it's the backdrop of Mount Teide, or simply getting married at sunset on the beach in Gran Canaria, there are a host of options for you.
