Guide to the Costa Calma

Hitting the motorway after a four hour flight is never idea, however, the Costa Calma is a great holiday resort in the south of Fuerteventura. The Costa Calma Beach offers soft sand and clear, turquoise waters that you won't want to leave. Plus you have the stunning Sotavento Beach a 10 minute drive away. Who needs a pool anyway?!

Accommodation options range from self-catering apartments and villas to four-star all-inclusive resorts and several supermarkets within the town for any extras you might need. And being a windy island, great winds bring great waves, so activities like surfing and kitesurfing are incredibly popular with locals and holidaymakers.

Things to do in the Costa Calma

The Costa Calma is much more a holiday resort than other towns on Fuerteventura like Corralejo, which offers a small port too. There are still a number of fun activities to do in the Costa Calma though. Here are a couple of our favourites:

Get Active

You're holiday in Costa Calma can be as relaxing or energetic as you like. If you love getting active, give the likes of surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing a go. The waves can be great fun and Fuerteventura is home to a number of wind surfing championships, so if you're on holiday at the same time, it's great fun to watch.

Explore The Beaches

A little further south is the stunning Sotavento Beach, where the towering sand dunes roll down to the crystal clear water. Your Instagram friends will be envious!

Relaxing With Tapas And A View

There's nothing better on holiday than relaxing at a little local restaurant with some delicious tapas and views across the beach out to sea. A number of restaurants and bars like this are dotted along the Playa Costa Calma.

Where to stay in the Costa Calma

With a variety of accommodation options, holidays in Costa Calma can suit all budgets. For a self-catering option, a 5-10 minute walk from the beach has a range of apartment and villa options in a more residential setting.

If you want hotel options with food and more included, you'll find the various hotels near the beach might be better like the SBH Monica Beach Resort or the H10 Tindaya Hotel. Be sure to know what you're after before you start looking for a holiday in the Costa Calma.
