Jandia Holidays Guide

The area of Jandia stretches from the south of Fuerteventura's Costa Calma right to the very end tip of the island at the Faro de Punta Jandia (Punta Jandia Lighthouse). The endless stretch of sandy beach that works its way down the length of the shore will mesmerise you.

Whilst it is a 90 minute transfer to the area, if you're on holiday in Fuerteventura for a week or more, the journey will be worth it. The Faro de Morro Jable is another iconic lighthouse of the area, plus the small fishing town of Morro Jable offers a variety of bars and restaurants if you want to head out of your accommodation.

Things to do in Jandia

Being a 90 minute drive from the airport, you'll want to have plenty of things to do when booking a holiday to Jandia. Here are a few of our favourite things to do in the area:

Visit The Old Port Town

The old fishing village of Morro Jable, now a small port town, sits about half way down the Jandia area of the island. Here, you can enjoy some of the local fish delicacies together with the infamous Canarian potatoes. For a day trip away from the pool or beach, head here to discover a little more about the local area.

Help The Turtles

Close to the port, is the Turtle Nursery in Morro Jable, which helps injured turtles back to recovery and hopefully released back to the sea. Think of it as a turtle hospital if you will. A lovely chance to learn more about these beautiful animals, the turtle nursery in Fuerteventura is a great family activity for something a little different to do when you're visiting Jandia.

Playa del Matorral

From Morro Jable, the beach to the right extends all the way around and up the coast of Fuerteventura. This beach is the Playa del Matorral which is one of the island's most iconic beaches. The sand here is white and the water turquoise. A perfect combination for those social media photos.

Day Trips

There are also a couple of day trips in Jandia that can be enjoyed while on holiday. Try a trip right to the bottom of the island to the Faro de Punta Jandia, or if you're feeling outdoorsy and adventurous, head to the Pico de la Zarza, the highest point on Fuerteventura at a height of 807m. Your hotel will be able to organise trips or you could hire a car and venture out yourself.

Where to stay in Jandia

Holidays to Jandia can include all sorts of accommodation options, from self catering apartments to four-star all inclusive resorts. Bed and breakfast and half board options are also available at a number of hotels.

Due to the large area of Jandia, you have a wide choice of options, from hotels close to the town of Morro Jable, to further up the coast like the Melia Gorriones Hotel which sits on its own, next to the beach, in a quieter spot on the island. For an adults only holiday in Jandia, try the TUI Sensimar Royal Palm Resort, while a fantastic all inclusive resort is the TUI MAGIC LIFE Fuerteventura.
