Parkdean Landguard

About Parkdean Landguard Holiday Park

Parkdean Landguard holiday park is one of the company's smaller parks with fewer than 150 caravans within the park. It's located near the popular seaside resort of Shanklin, on the Isle of Wight, just a ten minute walk from Shanklin station. The park is in a relaxed, lovely setting with a woodland feel, friendly staff and a real feeling of being on holiday.

Offering a variety of facilities and activities including an indoor and outdoor (open during summer months) pool, entertainment programme and outdoor playground, Landguard is a favourite with many families looking for a low cost family holiday. Guests at Landguard can also use the facilities at the nearby Parkdean Lower Hyde holiday park.

Landguard Park Facilities

As with most Parkdean resorts, Landguard features an indoor heated swimming pool with flume slide and water activities so you can splash around, year round. The park also features a heated outdoor pool too which is open from late May through to early September each year, so you can also enjoy splashing around outdoors in the sunshine during the summer months.

Children's Clubs

The two kids clubs are led by the infamous Parkdean Star Krew. Star Tots is the Club for children under 5, with activities likes story time, and fun games, while the Star Landers Club offers plenty of fun and adventure for children between 5 and 10 years old.

On-site Activities

Other activities on site include the outdoor adventure playground with swings and slides when the weathers good. There's also plenty of fun to be had at the indoor amusement arcade with modern racing games and traditional family favourite arcade machines.

One of the great aspects of Landguard is that guests can also head next door to Lower Hyde Holiday Park and also enjoy the facilities there including the outdoor pool and entertainment.

Evening Entertainment

Throughout your break the Parkdean Troupers are on hand to keep the family entertained both during the day and in the evening while on holiday. The Jesters Family Club within the entertainment complex offers relaxed evening entertainment, with the Oasis Sports Bar offering a place to relax and have a drink throughout the day and into the night. A livelier entertainment offering may be available at nearby Lower Hyde.

Full details of what's on during the day and evening, including any live entertainment will be available in your welcome pack when you arrive. If booking through Breakfree Holidays or using the Sun Holiday Codes promotion, make sure that entertainment passes are included in the price of your holiday, otherwise you can buy them when you arrive.

Food and Restaurants

For those times when you just don't fancy cooking, the Granary Restaurant in the main entertainment complex serves up delicious family favourites, from burgers and steaks to yummy desserts. The dedicated kids menu will please the little ones with smaller portions of dishes like fish and chips, pasta and pancakes. There's also a handy takeaway on site so you can eat in.

There is an Aldi and a Morrison's supermarket ten minutes down the road so it's easy to stock up on food if you're self catering, however there's also a convenient Nisa mini supermarket on site for any essentials you might have forgotten.

Other Information

There's also a launderette on site if you need it, although some upgraded lodges do have a washing machine installed.

WiFi is available throughout the park.

Please note: The outdoor pool is open from 24th May to 2nd September.

A ten minute drive from the park is the Isle of Wight Zoo, a family favourite, further up the coast in Yaverland. Here, the whole family can learn more about animals from around the world, whether farmyard animals or more exotic types like tigers, monkeys and snakes. Dinosaur Isle

Dinosaur Isle is an interactive museum to discover more about the local area and the history around the animals that used to roam the planet. Open daily throughout the year (except a few dates in December and January). Family tickets start from £16.50 and there are also public, guided fossil walks at sites of interest on the island.

Reviews

The park is small, surrounded by woods so there's a very relaxed feel within the resort. While there are a number of great facilities, during peak school holidays areas like the swimming pool can get busy and the changing facilities might be considered a little small for some people. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the caravans are all of a very good standard.

No cars are allowed to park up by the mobile homes so the main car park is by reception. This makes the park a much nicer place to spend time.
