Types Of Breaks In The UK

Relaxing Breaks In The UK

For a relaxing break, a spa weekend is a perfect chance to get away from it all and unwind, with hundreds of UK spa hotels, you are inundated with choice. Stay local or head up into the Highlands for that real 'no one can find me' feeling. Combine it with a stay by the beach and you've got yourself the perfect relaxing getaway. Companies like Centre Parcs offer UK breaks set amid beautiful forests with plenty of activities to enjoy and makes for an ideal family getaway. And there are a few places which offer woodland lodges with private hot tubs too.

You'll often find that treatments like massages and pedicures might also be included within the various spa breaks on offer, which can save you money if you're planning on enjoying a treatment or two while you're away. Similarly, if you want to have dinner at the hotel, see if there are any dinner, bed and breakfast packages to help you save even more money.

City Breaks In The UK

By Train

Book in advance and use a railcard and you might be able to grab a bargain city break by train. London is an obvious choice, but try other places like Norwich, Oxford, Cardiff and Liverpool for some alternatives, all of which have excellent attractions for all the family, great shopping and a variety of accommodation, ranging from budget friendly hotels to luxury stays.

Shopping Breaks

London is famous for its shopping so, of course, has to be on this list, however, other UK cities also offer some fantastic shopping areas too. Try York for great local markets, especially around Christmas time, or explore the likes of Manchester's or Birmingham's shopping districts for a great weekend break.

Adventure Breaks In The UK

Head out into the countryside for a really adventurous weekend in the UK. South of London, the Surrey Hills offer beautiful views over the South Downs, great for walking and mountain biking, while Wales gets even more wild with white water rafting, sea kayaking and climbing. For something a little more sporty, try your hand at surfing along the UK's southern coastline.

Seaside Breaks In The UK

There's nothing quite like getting some fresh sea air, so why not take advantage of living on an island?! Seaside resorts like Southend in Essex, Exmouth in Devon and Blackpool in Lancashire all offer something a bit different but are ideal for a UK short break, from the bright lights of the amusement arcades to the soft sandy beaches for building sand castles.

Weekend breaks by the sea are usually a bit higher in price because that's when everyone wants to go, so if you can, try going on a midweek break to get the best deals. Some beachfront hotels offer sea views from many of the rooms and can be a lovely upgrade. If you want to take your four legged friend though, try one of the numerous holiday parks around the coast which usually offer pet friendly caravans for an extra charge.
