If you're looking to save money with the kids, you may also find that operators like TUI and Jet2holidays offer free child places to a number of the hotels in Alcudia, although you'll find the summer school holiday months of July and August, these places will go quickly.

Getting To, From & Around Alcudia

Whether you're flying from Glasgow, Dublin, London or Bristol, there are lots of flights into Majorca's Palma airport which makes getting here very cheap and very easy. Airlines to the island include easyJet, British Airways, Wizzair and Ryanair. Once you've arrived on the island, if you're booked onto an organised coach transfer, the journey from Palma airport to Alcudia can take up to 90 minutes, depending on any other hotel dropoffs on the way. This may be included as part of your package holiday if you're booked.

Car Hire

Hiring a car is a great option in Majorca, allowing you to travel to Alcudia in your own time, stopping along the way, while giving you the freedom to go out and explore the island during your stay. You can also hire a car from Alcudia, where are a number of car hire companies including Rent A Car Vanrell, Carpay and Sixt, all within easy access of the main Carretera d'Arta.

Public Transport

There is a public bus service from Palma Airport to Alcudia which takes around 1 hour, however only a few run a day so if you plan on taking the bus to your hotel, make sure you check the latest bus timetables and plan accordingly.

Things To Do In Alcudia

Once you've arrived in Alcudia, you may simply want to stay in your hotel and enjoy the numerous facilities on offer, but you should definitely get our and explore more of the area. For a start, whereever your hotel or accommodation is in Alcudia, you'll never be very far away from the beach. Platja de Muro or Muro Beach is a long, stretch of lovely sandy beach, starting at the marina and going right down the coastline. Many beaches also have watersports available too

For a fun day trip, why not book onto one of the various boat trips available from the port area. We recommend researching any day trips in advance so you can be confident in what you're booking, having looked at reviews and prices before you arrive. Alternatively, your hotel and/or holiday rep will be able to advise on the tours and day trips in the area.

The marina is another great place to wander through, watching the boats and enjoying some of the local Spanish tapas dishes at the various restaurants which are dotted along the marina promenades.

Golf in Alcudia

If you're a golfer, the nearby Club de Golf Alcanada, perched on the coastline with stunning views of Alcudia Bay and over to Colonia de Sant Pere and Betlem. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, the 18 hole golf course is set amongst pine and olive trees offering a challenge to all levels of golfer, making this one of Majorca's favourite courses.

Puig de Sant Marti

If you enjoy spending a little time outdoors and escaping the confines of your hotel, a walk up to the top of Puig de Sant Marti can be a refreshing option. The views from here are stunning, especially if you head up in the early morning to enjoy sunrise. Alternatively, head to the nearby nature reserve for more outdoor adventures.

Alcudia Old Town

The old, cobbled streets of Alcudia's Old Town can be a cultural escape from the confines of the all inclusive resort. Surrounded by the impressive medieval walls, the town is home to hundreds of years of history and stories. Don't forget to visit the Roman ruins nearby which reveal a number of remains from ancient history.

Hidropark

If you love a waterpark, Hidropark is a fun day out for all the family. Open from May to October, this lively park offers swimmers a wave pool, lots of waterslides, and kids zone for the younger visitors and is within easy reach of Club Mac (where water park access is often included in the cost of your stay).

Where To Stay In Alcudia

Alcudia has some fantastic hotels and resorts dotted along the coast all the way from Alcudia Port down to Can Picafort. One of the best resorts in Majorca is Alcudia Beach where you can be within walking distance of both the soft white sand and a range of bars and restaurants. There are also plenty of self catering apartments and villas if you prefer to enjoy a getaway at your own pace. perhaps you might prefer the Zafiro Tropic Aparthotel.

All Inclusive Hotels

Being such a great destination for families, there are some brilliant all inclusive hotels in Alcudia. Club Mac is certainly a favourite with families. This 3-star resort is made up of 1,024 rooms across three hotels, 8 swimming pools, plus free access to the Hidropark water park next door and a whole host of other sports and activities. Or why not try an all inclusive stay at the popular TUI BLUE Alcudia Pins on Playa de Muro, one of Majorca's gorgeous blue flag beaches?

Adults Only Hotels

If it's an adult only holiday you want, take a look at VIVA Golf Hotel near the port. This popular 4-star hotel is located right on the beachfront with many rooms offering spectacular sea views. Over 1,000 guest reviews on TripAdvisor rate the hotel 4.5 out of 5.

Five Star Hotels

There are a couple of 5-star hotels in the area including the fabulous Zafiro Palace Alcudia, a child friendly resort with pools, waterslides, entertainment and a children's club. This luxury hotel is close to the beach and the port making it a great spot for easy access to local places to eat and drink if you're only on a bed and breakfast basis in the sun.

Weather In Alcudia

Like the rest of Majorca, the Balearic Islands and much of mainland Spain, the weather in Alcudia is hot in the summer and milder in the winter. Summer temperatures in July and August can reach as high as the mid 30s but averages around 27°C - 32°C. Many hotels close during the winter months as the temperatures drop to between 10°C - 16°C and the average flight price can be much lower too.

If you enjoy mildly warm weather, months like April, May and October can be perfect for a trip to Alcudia. The hotels can be quieter and cheaper during these months, especially if you're visiting outside of school holidays when the price can jump.
