Depending on what you're heading out for, it can be very easy to get a cheap Ibiza holiday. Head to the north of Ibiza for a quieter stay or hit the clubs and bars of Playa d'en Bossa or San Antonio for more of a party holiday.
Families are more than welcome to the island with quieter resorts dotted around Ibiza which cater to family tastes rather than the party scene. There are plenty of family friendly hotels to enjoy, as well as adult only accommodation and resorts if you would rather avoid the kids altogether.
Ibiza is famous for it's chilled out sunset vibes, as the sun goes down and the parties get started. You cannot miss a trip to the Sunset Strip for a drink before the night gets started.
Escape the confines of the pool and clubs and venture out on a boat trip for fun in the sun, snorkelling and discovering some of the other islands here. Make sure you choose the right boat trip though!
Discover an historic and more cultural side of Ibiza by visiting Ibiza Town's Old Quarter, perhaps even on a running tour if you like to stay active. Discover sights like the Castle of Ibiza (Castell de Eivissa).
While your hotel might be in a larger resort, Ibiza has some stunning beaches just waiting to be explored. Hop in the car and head to the north or east coasts and uncover the islands' quiet golden sand beaches.
Just a 2 and a half hour flight from the UK, flights to Ibiza are offered from numerous UK cities, including from Norwich, Liverpool, Belfast and Glasgow, by charter, low-cost and scheduled airlines like Ryanair, TUI and Jet2.
Ibiza airport is located on the south of the island so if you're on a budget, try Playa d'en Bossa as a resort for cheap and quick transfers to your hotel, which is just a 10-15 minute drive from the airport.
The island is served by a number of bus routes which are great for getting about on a budget, however, they aren't always that frequent, especially during the low, winter season between October and April. But if you have plenty of time, the bus can be a fun option.
Preorganised airport coach transfers are probably one of the best ways to get between the airport and your hotel. With brands like TUI Holidays and Jet2holidays, they are usually included in the price of your holiday, but when booking with other companies like On The Beach or loveholidays, you might need to add this on when you book. Coach transfers will take you door to door and as they are shared with others, can be inexpensive, although take a little longer if stopping at other hotels on the way.
There are plenty of taxis on the island to take you from A to B, although if you're planning a longer journey, like from San Antonio Bay to Puerto San Miguel or Portinatx, it might be a good idea to book ahead of time. This is especially the case if you are heading back to the airport, so that you don't miss your flight. You should expect the cost to be between €1-1.50 per km, with extra supplements like airport charge or waiting time added on to that. An example price between Ibiza Airport and Santa Eulalia is around €35 each way.
Hiring a car can be one of the best ways to enjoy Ibiza. There are so many fantastic, off the beaten track places on the island which aren't as accessible by public transport, which is where a hire car can come in very handy. Book your car hire in advance and pick it up from the airport to avoid disappointment, or if you only want it for a day or two, you can get a car locally (sometimes cheaper).
Ibiza has always been known as a party island and there is certainly the option to enjoy a good night (or day) dancing away, however, there is plenty more to this beautiful island than what its reputation has led us to believe.
For a more chilled out vibe, head to one of the islands beautiful beach bars, offering great music, food and the breaking waves in the distance.
Famed for its gorgeous sunsets, the white isle has several places to catch the icon views, ranging from the busy Sunset Strip in San Antonio, where you can enjoy your favourite tipple as the sun sets, to the mystical Es Vedra, where myths and legends have passed down through generations about this magnificent rock. Other locations to keep an eye out for are Cala Conta (or Cala Comte as it's also known), which is not far from the 7Pines Resort Hotel, and Las Salinas, where the water on the salt flats reflect the incredible orange and pink hues.
Some of the best beaches in Ibiza are the quieter ones, hidden away in secluded coves that are dotted around the coast. Take a look at places like Cala Llenya, Benirras and Es Portitxol.
Ibiza is great for sports like road biking and hiking, but there are also some fantastic watersports to try. While the less adventurous might rather take to the sea on a dolphin spotting boat trip, others can enjoy sea kayaking, wind surfing, jetskis and even scuba diving.
Just a 30 minute ferry ride will get you to Formentera, a much quieter island compared to Ibiza. Here you'll find a mix of rocky and sandy beaches, crystal clear water and some gorgeous scenery.
There are plenty of accommodation options in Ibiza to choose from for all types of budgets.
Playa den Bossa offers a lively clubbing and bar scene, with a big, beautiful beach and close to the airport meaning transfers are short and cheap. It's also not too far from Ibiza Town for even more hustle and bustle. While it's good for parties and clubs, there are still some family friendly parts too, especially on the beach.
One of the most popular holiday destinations in Ibiza for clubbing and parties, San Antonio sits on the west coast, with sunset views, bars and plenty going on. This area is perhaps more orientated towards adults only holidays, stag dos and hen dos.
Next door to San Antonio is Cala Gracio, which is a great option if you like to be close to all the nightlife, sunset bars and clubs, without actually wanting to stay in the heart of it. There are a couple of quiet beaches here too including Cala Gracioneta. Great hotel options here include the TRS Ibiza, Marble Stella Maris, and the Sol Bahia Ibiza Suites.
For a more family friendly holiday, Cala Llonga is a quieter resort and beach, still with a few bars and restaurants, but not the wilder scenes of other parts. Great family hotels here include the Palladium Hotel and the Globales Montemar.
On the west coast is Cala Tarida, a small town with sandy beach and a range of accommodation options including hotels and villas. It's also home to the gorgeous Cotton Beach Club, an incredible beach bar with views across the bay, however, prepare to spend...A LOT! Take a look at the TUI BLUE Tarida Beach for a really good family orientated hotel.
Head to the smaller towns and villages in the north of Ibiza to enjoy a quieter stay and some of Ibiza's impressive scenery. For a quaint town with quiet cove beach, try Pou d'es Lleo.
If you're after a holiday with plenty of beats, bars and beaches, a party holiday in Ibiza is ideal. Head to Playa d'en Bossa for the bigger clubs and proximity to Ibiza Town, while San Antonio Town offers clubbing at some of the best bars and nightlife, offering drinks with the iconic Ibiza sunsets.
There are several party hotels on the island, with two popular ones being the adults only Ibiza Rocks Hotel and Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel, both offering pool parties, live DJs and events throughout the summer season. For lively holidays with a family, take a look at the popular Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza, which still has a bit of a party vibe, but is very family friendly.
Another great option for a party holiday in Ibiza is staying in a quieter hotel, but enjoying all the great beach clubs and bars on offer. The best place for this has to be Playa d'en Bossa as you can wander along the huge beach here and stop of at each for a drink before heading on. Popular beach clubs here include Nassau Beach Club and Coco Beach.
While it's great to enjoy the live music and DJs by the pool, an even more exciting experience is heading out on one of the many boat parties, which can get pretty wild, with most offering an open bar within the ticket price.
It's not all about clubbing and drinking on the island. There are loads of places to enjoy a quiet Ibiza holiday, whether you're a family of four, a young couple looking for a chilled weekend in the sun, or a solo traveller heading to a boutique yoga and health retreat in the hills.
Even though it's known as a big party destination, Ibiza is also home to relaxing and rejuvenating wellness retreats, ranging from a 2 day juice detox, to week long yoga retreats at a villa in the hills. For the latest offers, check out the Good Retreat Guide.
Staying out of the main tourist hotspots, there are some absolutely incredible villas here, and while the epic, glass covered clifftop villas might be out of your budget, you can still enjoy a cheap villa holiday in Ibiza without breaking the budget. In fact, many companies include car hire within the cost of your holiday. Quieter areas to look at include San Carlos and S'Argamassa.
When you book with certain tour operators and travel companies, free child places may be an option, allowing you to save on the cost of your getaway. And despite being known for its clubs and nightlife, Ibiza is a great family destination too. Family friendly hotels in Ibiza include the TUI BLUE Tarida Beach in Cala Tarida, the FERGUS Style Bahamas, and the Grand Palladium White Island Resort.
Going all inclusive in Ibiza can be a great option when you want to save money, or simply don't want to spend any more than your budget while you're away. Some of the prices, especially with alcohol (and in the clubs) can be very expensive, so knowing that everything at your hotel is included allows to relax without the money worries. Some great all inclusive hotels in Ibiza to look at are the Coral Star Hotel & Apartments in San Antonio Bay, Invisa Figueral Resort in Playa Es Figueral, Ibiza Tropic Garden in Santa Eulalia, and the Occidental Ibiza in Port Des Torrent.
Head to the east coast of Ibiza for the quiet part, with places like Playa Es Cana, Cala San Vicent and Portinatx being quieter holiday resorts.
The cheapest months in Ibiza are between November and March, however, expect much cooler weather and a lot of bars, restaurants and clubs to be closed as it's out of "season".
You'll usually find that most of the closing parties in Ibiza are during October.
Whether it's a last minute holiday, or you're putting down a deposit for next year and paying over time, when you book your package holiday, it's important to do so with a reputable brand. Flight inclusive holidays with brands like Jet2holidays, On The Beach and TUI are ABTA and ATOL protected. If you decide to book your flight and hotel separately, like Ryanair and an Airbnb apartment, this won't be protected so make sure you take out comprehensive travel insurance.
