Flights To Palermo

Cheap Flights To Palermo

You can snap up some bargain Palermo flights with low cost airlines, making a trip to Sicily very affordable. They aren't daily so you'll need to be flexible to get the best deals but they can be very cheap.

Direct flights from London to Palermo can start from less than £50 per person, with two airlines offering direct options from the UK. If you'd like to travel from another UK city, you'll need to travel to London, or take an indirect flight, changing planes in destinations like Rome, Zurich or Milan.

Palermo Airport (PMO)

There's just the one commerical airport in Palermo which is also known as the Aeroporto di Palermo Falcone e Borsellino, and is located 35km outside of the city. Don't get confused with Boccadifalco which is more of a smaller, private aircraft and aeroclub type airfield.

There are three main ways you can get from the airport into the city centre which are bus, train and car. The bus and train options both take around an hour and head into the very heart of the city at Palermo Centrale station. The bus departs from right outside the airport, while trains leave from Punta Raisi station which is a short walk from the airport.

Alternatively, you can take a taxi which will take around 40 minutes and cost in the region of about €50 each way. While this might be a more convenient option, it's also the more expensive one. If you're planning on exploring the region rather than just the city, hiring a car can also be a great way to travel around, with a number of car hire companies at the airport.

Airlines Flying To Palermo

The two airlines offering cheap flights to Palermo are Ryanair (from London Stansted) and easyJet (from London Luton). Neither are daily flights so you'll need to plan your trip and accommodation accordingly to time in well with the flight schedules. If travelling from other parts of the UK, you can try Catania, the other main city on Sicily (which is on the east coast), or you can fly with airlines like SWISS or ITA Airways which means changing planes in cities like Zurich and Milan.

If you're planning a short trip with accommodation, you may also be better to book your flight and hotel together as an ATOL protected package with easyJet Holidays, Expedia or a similar tour operator. This can sometimes mean discounts and also means your booking is financially protected.
