Find A Spa Break That Suits You
A good spa break should feel easy from the moment you book it. That might mean a cheap overnight stay with breakfast and time in the pool, a weekend away with a treatment and dinner included, or a more luxurious hotel where the spa is the main reason for going.
We use this page as our starting point for finding spa break deals, comparing the different types of stays available and working out what is actually included in the price. If budget is the main consideration, our guides to spa breaks under £100 and spa breaks under £200 are useful places to start. What Is A Spa Break?
A spa break is normally an overnight hotel stay that includes access to spa or leisure facilities. Depending on the package, you may also get breakfast, dinner, a treatment, afternoon tea or a credit to spend in the hotel. Some breaks are built around the spa, while others are simply hotel stays with spa access included.
That difference matters when you compare prices. A cheaper package with accommodation and breakfast can be good value if you mainly want the pool, sauna and steam room. If you want a massage or facial, compare the treatment length and the amount of spa access as well as the headline price.
What Is Usually Included?
Every hotel and package is different, so always check the inclusions before booking. Overnight accommodation and breakfast are common, while other packages may add dinner, a treatment, lunch, afternoon tea or longer use of the spa facilities.
Look closely at spa access times too. Some offers include use of the facilities only on one day, or during a set time slot. Treatments can also be shorter than you expect, so it is worth checking whether a package includes 25, 50 or 60 minutes rather than simply assuming that every massage or facial is the same.
Cheap Spa Breaks
You do not need to spend a fortune to get away. Midweek dates, Sunday nights and shorter treatments can bring the price down, while some packages focus on accommodation, breakfast and spa access rather than adding lots of extras.

How Much Does A Spa Break Cost?
There is no single price for a spa break. The cost depends on the hotel, day of the week, length of stay and what is included. A basic one-night package may simply include the room, breakfast and spa access, while a higher-priced break can include dinner, longer treatments and extra time in the facilities.
When comparing deals, check whether the price is per person or per room and whether there are supplements for Friday or Saturday nights. If a treatment is included, compare its length too. A £20 saving is not much of a saving if one package includes a 50-minute treatment and another only includes 25 minutes.
Our budget pages are a useful shortcut if you already know roughly what you want to spend: see spa breaks under £100 or spa breaks under £200.
Choosing The Right Spa Hotel
Start with the reason for the break. If the spa is the main event, look for a hotel with a proper thermal area, treatment rooms and enough facilities to spend several hours there. If you mainly want a comfortable hotel with a swim and sauna, a smaller leisure club may be perfectly adequate and can cost less.
Location matters as well. A city-centre spa hotel is handy if you want restaurants, shopping or a show, while a country-house hotel works better when the plan is to stay put, eat well and switch off for a night or two.
Before You Book
Check the treatment times, spa access window, check-in and check-out times and exactly what any dinner allowance covers. If you are travelling as a couple or group, confirm that treatment slots are available at suitable times before committing to the hotel.
It is also worth checking the cancellation terms, whether robes and slippers are included and whether the spa has any age restrictions. Small details like these can make a big difference to how relaxed the break actually feels once you arrive.
Spa Hotels Worth A Look
Spa Breaks Around The UK
You can find spa hotels in most parts of the country, so the best destination often comes down to how far you want to travel and what else you want to do while you are away. For a countryside break, areas such as Yorkshire, the Lake District and Scotland give you plenty of space to slow down. If you prefer restaurants, shopping and nightlife, cities such as Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham make an easy short break.
Our UK spa breaks page is the best starting point for browsing by destination. We also have dedicated guides to spa breaks in Kent and spa breaks in North West England.
Spa Break FAQs
A spa day does not normally include an overnight stay. A spa break includes hotel accommodation, usually for one or two nights, with spa access and whatever other inclusions are listed in the package.
Sometimes, but not always. Some packages include a set treatment while others only include use of the spa facilities. Check the package details and treatment duration before booking.
Yes, there are lower-cost spa breaks available, particularly when you can travel midweek or on selected Sunday nights. Availability changes, so compare the full package rather than relying on one headline price. Our spa breaks under £100 guide is a good place to look for ideas.
Midweek and Sunday stays can often be better value than Friday and Saturday nights, although prices vary by hotel and date. Being flexible with both destination and travel date usually gives you more choice.
Pack swimwear and something comfortable to wear around the hotel. Most spas provide towels, and many provide robes and slippers, but it is worth checking before you travel. If dinner is included, check the restaurant dress code too.
