In 2025 and 2026, holidays to Malta are a great opportunity to discover a new country and enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine. From it's historic forts and ancient city of Mdina, to the rugged coastlines and picturesque marinas, away from the pool and beach, there's a little bit of something for everyone.
There are lots of airlines flying direct from the UK to Malta International Airport, including Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways and Jet2. With flights from across the UK including Newcastle, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Liverpool, the flight time is around three hours, meaning, if you're lucky, you could be by the pool by lunchtime.
Once you've arrived, if you've booked a package holiday with an airport transfer, this is a cheap and easy way to get to your hotel, while a private transfer or taxi will cost around €20 each way from the airport to St Julian's Bay and around €30 each way to Bugibba.
If you're on a budget, there are also a number of buses which run from the airport to key towns, as well as around the island. Tickets cost €1.50 in winter and €2 in summer for a two hour journey.
