Getting to, from and around Kos

Kos airport is actually more in the centre of the island, about 25km from Kos Town. Flying here is relatively easy, with direct flights from the UK taking around four hours, and options from regional airports like Leeds Bradford, Newcastle and Edinburgh. During the summer months, there will be more flight options to cater for the influx in holidaymakers flocking to the island for their summer holiday, but airlines to take a look at including Jet2, easyJet and TUI.

Once you've arrived on the island, public transport is possible although not always that easy, especially if you're staying in a much quieter area. One of the best and cheapest options is to organise an airport coach transfer before you travel, and depending on who you book with, this may already be included in the cost of your package. If you aren't really planning to explore much further than your hotel's local area, then this can be a great choice.

If you are planning to get out and explore the island's little fishing villages and quiet beaches, opting for a hire car could be best. If you book in advance, car hire can be fairly affordable and you can pick it up from the airport. Some of the more popular and bigger areas may also have car hire options once you've arrived.
