The resort sits in Costa Mujeres, a quieter and more exclusive stretch of the Mexican Caribbean coast north of the Cancun hotel zone, on a private white-sand beach overlooking the turquoise Caribbean. It is a Marriott Autograph Collection property managed by Royalton Hotels and Resorts, with 648 suites, 11 restaurants, including a celebrity partnership with chef Guy Fieri and a Japanese teppanyaki showpiece, and 11 bars across the property. The all-inclusive package covers all food, drink, entertainment and most activities, with gratuities and taxes included.

Cancun International Airport is approximately 35 kilometres away. Transfer time is around 45 minutes by car or up to 60 minutes by coach. TUI and First Choice package holidays include airport transfers.

Swimming Pools & Water Park

Multiple outdoor swimming pools are distributed across the resort, each with a different atmosphere. The main pools have swim-up bars and pool attendants. The lazy river winds through the resort, exactly the right speed for floating along with a drink, and genuinely enjoyable for adults as much as children. The Jurassic Splash Park water park area has slides, sprinklers and splash zones specifically designed for younger children. The STAR Class™ guests have access to exclusive private pool and beach areas separate from the main resort.

FlowRider® Surf Simulator

A double-lane FlowRider® surf simulator that generates a consistent artificial wave for surfing and bodyboarding. Beginners can try bodyboarding; more experienced riders can work on standing. Instruction is available. This is one of the most genuinely distinctive features of Planet Hollywood Cancun and one of the most popular facilities in the resort, expect queues during peak periods.

Spa & Wellness

The resort spa draws on Hollywood's golden age glamour as its design reference and offers a full treatment menu including massages with organic and vegan oils, hydrotherapy, facials using natural ingredients, a Himalayan salt room, Ayurvedic treatments, quartz sand beds and couples' private suites. Beauty services and hair are also available. Spa treatments are charged separately from the all-inclusive package.

Planet Play

The indoor entertainment complex houses a trampoline park, arcade games, basketball courts and golf simulators. It operates across age groups — younger children on the trampolines, teenagers and adults on the arcade and simulators. Air-conditioned, which makes it a sensible option during the hottest part of the day.

Fitness

A fully equipped fitness centre with cardio machines, free weights and resistance equipment. Instructor-led fitness classes run throughout the day as part of the all-inclusive activities programme.

Entertainment

Along with the various bars on offer, entertainment is generally in the form of live entertainment, from quiz nights to live music and DJs.

Kids' Club

The supervised kids' club operates for children aged 4 to 12. Themed activities, crafts, games and scheduled events run throughout the day. The kids' club gives parents genuine time off from active child supervision during the day while giving children a properly structured and social environment. Guy's! Burger Joint

A collaboration with celebrity chef and TV host Guy Fieri of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives fame. A menu of towering burgers with thin-sliced toppings, house-made sauces and signature seasoned fries, served in an open-air space. Open from 11am to 6pm with a Resort Casual dress code. The celebrity association gives this more credibility than a typical resort burger bar, it is consistently popular and the food reflects the standard Fieri brings to his other ventures.

So Cal Gourmet Emporium

The main buffet restaurant inspired by Southern California food culture. Continental breakfast from 6:30am, full breakfast from 7am, lunch from 12:30pm and dinner from 6pm. The menu covers wood-fired flatbreads, handcrafted baked goods, food truck-style Mexican dishes, Japanese and Korean fusion and traditional American grilled classics. Open for all meal periods and the most flexible option for families with varied tastes or young children.

East Sushi & Teppanyaki Bar

A Japanese à la carte restaurant combining a sushi bar with a teppanyaki hibachi grill. Chefs cook at the table with knife skills on display at the hibachi station, a genuine dinner show in its own right. Particularly popular with children who enjoy watching the performance. Trattoria

The Italian à la carte restaurant, open for lunch with candle-lit tables and classic Hollywood soundtracks. Italian comfort food with wine pairings. A calmer, more relaxed lunch option away from the poolside energy. Resort Casual dress code.

Sunset Strip Steakhouse & Grill

An intimate steakhouse themed around old Hollywood glamour with booth seating and an extensive wine list. For a higher-quality dinner in a more atmospheric setting than the buffet, this is the restaurant to choose. Open for dinner with an Evening Casual dress code.

Sutra Indian Restaurant & Hookah Lounge

An à la carte Indian restaurant with dishes crafted by a specialist Indian chef in a lavishly decorated, Instagram-friendly setting. Open for dinner with an Evening Casual dress code. A genuinely unusual and welcome addition to a Cancun all-inclusive resort's restaurant roster.

The Shores Beach Club & Restaurant

A beachfront a la carte restaurant serving grilled dishes at lunch and dinner with uninterrupted Caribbean views. The most atmospheric daytime dining option at the resort, combining good food with the best views of the beach. Open for lunch from 1pm and dinner from 6pm.

Bars

11 bars cover the resort throughout the day. The swim-up pool bars serve the main pool areas. The beach bar operates directly on the sand. The STAR Class™ exclusive bar serves the private lounge area. The Overtime Sports Bar continues into the early hours. All local and standard international drinks, cocktails, beer, wine and soft drinks are included in the all-inclusive package.

Isla Mujeres

The small island of Isla Mujeres sits just offshore from Cancun and is accessible by ferry in around 20 minutes. Golf carts are the main mode of transport on the island. The beach at Playa Norte is one of the finest in the Cancun area, calm, clear water in a sheltered bay that is particularly good for families with younger children. The island has good seafood restaurants and a genuinely low-key, village atmosphere that contrasts pleasantly with the resort's scale.

Snorkelling at Puerto Morelos

The Puerto Morelos reef, part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second-largest coral reef system in the world, is accessible from the resort by guided excursion. The reef at Puerto Morelos is a national park with restricted access and remarkably healthy coral. Snorkelling here is considerably more rewarding than snorkelling off the resort beach and is one of the most recommended half-day excursions available from Costa Mujeres.

Playa del Carmen and Fifth Avenue

The main shopping and nightlife strip of the Riviera Maya, Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen is approximately 60 kilometres south of Costa Mujeres. A mix of international brands, local artisan markets, restaurants and bars makes it a reliable half-day shopping and lunch trip for older children and adults.

Tulum

The Mayan ruins at Tulum sit dramatically on a clifftop above the Caribbean, giving them a setting that Chichen Itza's inland location cannot match. The combination of the ancient walled city, the cliff views and the beach below, accessible and genuinely beautiful, makes Tulum an excellent day trip and a different kind of experience from Chichen Itza. Approximately one and a half to two hours from the resort.
