The hotel is located in one of the more popular areas of Tenerife and it's understandable why. Being close to the beach is a must for many holidaymakers, but Playa de las Americas is also right on your doorstep, so an evening out is easy to do. Plus if you get bored of the beach or pool, some of Tenerife's top attractions including Jungle Park, Siam Waterpark and Aqualand are within easy reach.

The hotel also offers guests the choice of three outdoor pools, two adult swimming pools and one children's pool. For those that have visited Tenerife in winter, you'll know that a heated pool is a welcome addition to any hotel, so you'll be pleased to hear that one of the Sol Tenerife's adult pools is also heated.

Customers can also upgrade to all-inclusive, enjoying the benefits of food and drink included throughout the day. The hotels dinner option is a variety of internationally themed buffet dinner options not forgetting the local Spanish and Canary Islands speciality dishes.

Standard Side Sea View Room

Side sea view rooms offer a partial view of the sea, just to help you feel that little bit more on holiday. These rooms have enjoy a terrace or balcony with the same amenities and facilities as standard rooms (private bathroom with bathtub, hair dryer, TV, free Wi-Fi).

Standard Direct Sea View Room

Upgrade to a direct sea view room and enjoy beautiful sea views from the comfort of your own balcony over the beach, across the sea to La Gomera. These rooms are slightly larger (27m sq) and feature the same facilities as other Standard Rooms.

Customers can book the hotel only directly on the official Melia hotel website, booking flights with the likes of British Airways, Ryanair or Jet2, separately, or book as part of a package holiday with top tour operator brands like First Choice, Love Holidays and On The Beach who have ATOL certificates. Booking your flight and hotel together with an ATOL protected operator protects both you and your money. This is a popular hotel in the heart of Playa de las Americas, and can get booked up in the peak summer season, but it's always worth keeping a look out for last minute holiday deals to the Sol hotel.

From its three swimming pools, children's club and various sports activities, to its internet corner, evening entertainment and several bars, there's a whole load to enjoy here. Hotel reception is 24 hours with free WiFi available throughout the hotel (including the rooms). There is also an hotel launderette which can be used for an additional cost and to be paid at the hotel.

Activities Available

There are loads of activities on offer at the hotel. The kids club for 5 to 12 year olds in the mornings and afternoons offers a wide range of activities. Pool sports, arts and crafts, treasure hunts and an inflatable, bouncy castle, and even cooking classes are perfect for keeping children entertained. For adults, sports activities including a tennis court, aerobics, football, darts, bowls and even dance therapy are also available.

Whether you're in Tenerife in April, July, September or November, you'll be on holiday for the sunshine. A children's pool and two adults pools (one of which is a heated pool in winter), sun loungers around the pool area, plus a pool bar, make this hotel perfect for relaxing poolside in the Canarian sunshine. Pool towels are available for a deposit and shouldn't be taken out of the hotel. Beach towels can be bought for as little as €5 each in local shops.

Although it doesn't have spa facilities, health and beauty treatments are available to book at an additional charge, including massage, manicure/pedicure and hairdressing.

Entertainment

When evening comes around, a mix of entertainment awaits. With live music, tribute bands, mini discos, fashion shows and evening parties on offer after dinner, there's plenty to enjoy after dinner both for kids and parents.

Holidays can be booked as bed and breakfast, half board or all inclusive when booking a package holiday through the likes of Jet2 Holidays or TUI. This is a great option if you want to know in advance that some or all of your meals are sorted every day, however, it's also good to get out into Las Americas and try some of the local restaurants.

The hotel has one main buffet style restaurant, a pool bar, exclusive all inclusive bar and a lounge bar for evening drinks, offering hotel guests a great mix of places to eat during their stay. The restaurant food menu has a great mix of local and international dishes and special requests such as gluten free options can be accommodated for. And bars have an extensive drinks menu.

All Inclusive

The all inclusive package includes breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as snacks during the day at the dedicated Palapa all inclusive bar. House wine, juices, soft drinks and beers are available at meal times as part of the all inclusive drinks package, and local alcoholic drinks are available during the day and evening. Premium alcoholic drinks are not included. The all inclusive upgrade can be made at the time of booking.

Half Board

Included in the half board option are breakfast and dinner meals. Drinks during mealtimes, lunch and snacks during the day are not included and will be charged extra in the hotel.

Bed And Breakfast

Bed and breakfast is available and includes breakfast at the hotel buffet restaurant until 10:30am. Snacks and other meals will be charged extra, although this is a great opportunity to escape the hotel and try some of the local restaurants.

Main Restaurant - A buffet style restaurant serving a mix of local and international food, including salads, meats, and desserts. There are also Italian and Mexican themed dinners during the week. Restaurant meal times are:

Pool Bar - Serving drinks and snacks throughout the day by the pool and open from 10am until 7pm.
La Palapa Bar - A dedicated snack bar for all inclusive guests serving a mix of hot and cold foods including burgers, sandwiches and salads. La Palapa is open from 11:30am until 6pm.
Lounge Bar - Located in the hotel lobby and serving drinks from 6pm until 1am.

If lounging by the pool isn't your thing, on-site you can enjoy a variety of sports activities including table tennis and and bowls. Other sports activities such as tennis are available and are at an additional charge.

If you want to head out of the hotel, you're just minutes from the beach so head down to the Troya or Playa de las Americas beaches and spend the day playing in the sand. Alternatively, if you'd like to be a bit more active, why not try out one of Tenerife's fantastic waterparks, Aqualand or Siam Park, just a short taxi ride away. There's also a number of golf courses around Tenerife South.

For those more adventurous or wanting to explore more of the island, day trips can be booked as an alternative to hanging by the pool. Try a trip up the impressive Mount Teide, or go under water and give a local submarine trip a go, or even give scuba diving a go. Whale and dolphin watching trips from Los Cristianos are also an excellent day trip to experience.

In the evening, the hotel offers live entertainment or you can head into Las Americas to enjoy some of the nightlife that Tenerife has to offer or simply hang out at the hotel and enjoy the evening entertainment. The infamous Veronicas strip is just a five minute walk from the hotel.

From Tenerife Airport

The distance from the airport to Sol Tenerife is 16km and takes about 30 minutes by airport transfer coach. If hiring a car or taking a taxi, you should expect the journey to take about 15 minutes. There is also a public bus that runs to the airport from Las Americas, Tenerife.
