Getting to, from and around Playa De Las Americas

Tenerife South airport is the nearest airport to Playa de las Americas (flying into Tenerife North airport will add a good 30-45 minutes onto your journey), with pretty much all direct UK flights flying into the south. Airlines like Ryanair, Jet2 and easyJet fly from UK regional airports like Belfast, Newcastle and Bristol too. Once you arrive, there are a number of options to get from the airport to Las Americas.

Coach Transfers

Many flight inclusive packages will include coach transfers, mainly with TUI and Jet2holidays, and if yours doesn't, it's a cheap way to get to your hotel. It's worth booking this in advance when you book your holiday.

Taxi

A taxi is another option, taking about 20 minutes and the journey will cost around €30-35 each way. This is obviously more expensive but does give you more freedom.

Public Transport

There is a local bus that leaves from outside the main airport terminal and takes you into Playa de las Americas for around €4 per person. Sundays aren't as frequent but if you don't mind waiting around, this can be very cheap, especially if you're travelling alone.

Car Hire

If you sometimes get a little bored by the pool, hiring a car can be a great way to get out and explore the island. You probably don't really need one to get around the town but if you wanted to hire a car from the airport, this is affordable when booking in advance, otherwise you can pick up a hire car close to your hotel, if not at your hotel. Explore the coast here by heading up to Las Gigantes, or around to Golf del Sur, or head up into Teide National Park, as long as you're okay with heights!
