With year round sunshine and a huge range of accommodation options, Cyprus is the perfect place for a holiday. Offering all the mod-cons from air conditioning and Satellite TV to sun loungers and private pools, there are plenty to choose from.
What's more, they are perfect for the whole family, groups of friends or simply a couple's escape. Ranging from one bedroom homes to five, six or seven bedroom luxury villas, whoever you're travelling with, you've got options.
There are plenty of popular resorts and areas to choose from on the island. Here are some of our favourites:
North or Paphos, Coral Bay is a popular area and offers holidaymakers a big beach, crystal clear waters, and a number of watersports and beach bars. Plus this is a Blue Flag beach, meaning safe and well rated.
Ayia Napa is often known as the party area of Cyprus, but over in the east and on the south coast, there are some fantastic villas so that you can enjoy the privacy of your own home, within easy reach of the restaurants, bars and clubs in the area. There's plenty to see and do down here, including Nissi Beach, Katsarka Beach, water skiing, and boat tours.
Being the main city on the island, Paphos is home to so many local attractions and ancient monuments including Kato Paphos Archaeological Park, Aphrodite Waterpark and the House of Dionysus. If you love to keep busy and enjoy easy access to all the sights and sounds of the city, this could be the best area for you.
Roughly an hours drive from Paphos airport, up in the top far west of the island is Latchi (also known as Latsi). It is a quieter area with lots of independent villas on offer, great if you're looking for some peace and quiet.
Aphrodite Hills is a popular area of Cyprus for golf holidays. This community of large homes and villas is just 20 minutes from the airport and has a hotel onsite too. If you love to escape and enjoy a resort style area with the freedom and flexibility of a self catering holiday home, this could be the place for you.
From your own private pool, to one within easy reach of lively nightlife hotspots, there are plenty of villa options in Cyprus.
A private swimming pool can make all the difference when you're on holiday, so check for villas with pools. If you're travelling with kids, it's worth checking if the pools are gated too, just for safety and security. And for a bit of extra fun, see if there are any pools with slides! If you don't fancy a pool, hot tubs can be a great option, although only if you like the heat.
Treating yourself? Celebrating? A great upgrade on your getaway is to book a villa with a view, whether that's of the mountains or with an infinity pool and stunning sea views out to the Mediterranean Sea. They can push up the price of your escape but when there's a group of you splitting the cost, the price doesn't seem so daunting.
Enjoying year round sunshine, anytime is a great time to visit Cyprus. Naturally the summer months can be hotter, reaching as high as the mid 30s with minimal chance of rainfall. Come the winter months, the weather does cool down. Average temperatures in winter range between 7 and 16 degrees with a 66% chance of a sunny day. When travelling in the summer, you'll probably want a private pool to keep cool, but in the winter, having something like a games room on hand can be great for those days with bad weather.
