All-Inclusive Hotels

There are some great all inclusive hotels around the Algarve region with popular areas including Vilamoura, Lagos and Albufeira. These are usually packaged up with flights by tour operators like TUI, Jet2holidays and On The Beach so that you have one booking that sorts the lot.

If you're after a budget break, cheaper options include places like the Hotel Vila Gale Nautico in Armacao de Pera, Alvor Baia Resort in Alvor, and the AP Cabanas Beach and Nature in Tavira. On the more luxury end of the scale, resorts like 3HB Guarana, Salgados Palace and Iberostar Selection Lagos, all provide that premium experience for guests.

Before you book, always make sure to check just how much is included within the price of your holiday. Sometimes it might just be the flight, hotel and meals, while others, it might include airport transfers, seat selection on the flight and premium alcoholic drinks in the resort.

Hotels in Lisbon

There are some great areas to stay in Lisbon with Baixa being one of the most popular areas because of its central location, proximity to shops, bars and restaurants, as well as being the historic heart of the city. The four-star Internacional Design Hotel is good all-rounder hotel, situated on the south side of Rossio Square and offering clean and comfortable accommodation at an affordable price. Push the price up a little to stay at The Art Inn Lisbon hotel which also features a rooftop bar. Alternatively, the My Story Ouro Hotel offers a great stay at a much more budget friendly price.

If you prefer to stay in the Old Town, Lisbon's Alfama area provides visitors with boutique hotels set amongst the cobbled streets and alleys. You'll find some small and quirky B&Bs and self catering apartments in this part of the city. The Lisbon Lounge Suites are one such option if you're on a budget break, while the 5 star Palacete Chafariz d'El Rei sits on the higher end, offering a luxurious stay in the city.

Hotels in the Algarve

The Algarve is often separated out into three areas, west, central and east, with the region's main airport, Faro (FAO) located in the centre. Airport transfer times to places like Lagos in the far west can take between 90-120 minutes depending on how many stops your shuttle bus takes. With this in mind, you might want to select the area you stay carefully.

That said, all areas of the Algarve can be great areas to stay. Popular tourist destinations include Vilamoura, Lagos and Albufeira because of the bars and restaurants available, as well as the easy beach access. Places like Portimao, Carvoeiro and Tavira can also offer holidaymakers a range of hotels, as well as villa style accommodation. In fact, the Algarve is well-known for its wide range of holiday villas available, with many making the move permanent.

Most holiday style hotels here will generally have a swimming pool (perfect for enjoying family holidays in the sun). Discover our favourite Algarve hotels here.

Hotels With Water Slides

Whether you're holidaying with the kids, or you're simply a big kid at heart and love the thrill, booking a hotel with water slides can be fun and exciting. There are a few dotted about the Algarve including the Jupiter Hotel in Albufeira, Alfagar Aparthotel also near Albufeira, or the Hotel Cristal Vieira Praia & Spa in Praia da Vieira.

Alternatively, you could book into a cheaper hotel which doesn't have any water slides or even a pool, but is right next door to either a water park like Aqualand near Armacao de Pera, Slide & Splash which is just inland from Carvoeiro, or Aquashow Park in Quartiera, which actually has a hotel on-site. Of course, there's always the option of booking a stay near the beach too...

Hotels Near The Beach

If you want to be near the beach, you've got plenty of options across this country's incredible coastline. Starting in the south, try hotels like the Crowne Plaza Vilamoura or the Tivolia Marina Vilamoura which both offer easy access to the marina for the shops, bars and restaurants, as well as the soft sandy beach at Praia de Vilamoura. Further along the coast, you've got places like the Bela Vista Hotel & Spa which is just steps from the beach, and the Pestana Dom Joao II with its Oceano beach bar.

If you're flying into Lisbon, the stretch of coastline between the city and Cascais is dotted with beaches and accommodation to suit all budgets. If you're celebrating, one luxurious stay to treat yourself to is a night or two at the five-star Palacio Estoril Golf & Wellness Hotel, just a short walk from Estoril train station and Praia do Tamariz beach, or you'll find the Hotel Baia across the road from the beach in the heart of Cascais town centre.
