Flights To Tenerife From The UK

Flights From The UK

Being such a popular, year-round holiday destination, there are lots of flights from lots of different airports in the UK, including regional ones like Belfast, Bournemouth and Newcastle, plus there are often many flights in winter too. Here's a quick run down on the flight options available.

Direct Flights & Airlines

Direct flights from the UK to Tenerife will land at Tenerife South Airport which is the closest airport to resorts like Playa de las Americas, Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. All the main low cost and holiday airlines like easyJet, Ryanair, Wizzair, Jet2 and TUI fly to the island, as well as British Airways. You can compare the cheapest Tenerife flights using our search above in partnership with Skyscanner, however, sometimes it is best to go straight to the airline website to book.

Indirect Flights

Indirect flights are possible into both Tenerife South and Tenerife North Airport. Journeys will usually transit mainland Spain like Madrid or Barcelona, but naturally will take longer. Last minute flights, especially during the school summer holidays can get quite pricey, so indirect options might be viable.

Tour Operators

You may find that booking a package holiday to Tenerife, instead of flights and accommodation separately can work out cheaper. ABTA and ATOL protected tour operators like TUI and Jet2holidays package up their own flights with all sorts of accommodation options around the island, from self catering in Golf Del Sur, to all inclusive in Costa Adeje. You can also look at companies like loveholidays and On The Beach for more options.

Airports In Tenerife

Airports In Tenerife

There are two airports in Tenerife, Tenerife South Airport (TFS) and Tenerife North Airport (TFN). All direct flights from the UK land at TFS which is the closest airport to the main beach destinations in the south of the island.

Tenerife South

Tenerife South has undergone significant expansion in recent years with many more check-in desks and gates. The airport itself has plenty of shops and a few places to eat, although if you've got a late flight, these close so it might be worth bringing your own food. The airport is very well connected with frequent public transport options running up to Santa Cruz and down to Los Cristianos. Taxis are readily available from outside the airport, as is car hire (although if you're hiring a car, it's worth booking this in advance for the best prices). But one of the best options to get from the airport to your hotel is a prebooked airport transfer.

Tenerife North

Tenerife North Airport sits, as you'd expect, in the north of the island in San Cristobal de La Laguna. This is the closest airport to places like Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Ursula. There are some transport options here, including both buses and taxis, but again, a prebooked coach transfer can be the easiest option to get to your hotel.
