Last minute family holiday in 2025? Want to save money? Fear not! Last minute free child places are a great way to save a bit of extra money on your next holiday. Top holiday companies like TUI and Jet2holidays offer free kids places on thousands and thousands of holidays each year and many are often available close to the time of departure.
This can be particularly good if you aren't able to work out annual leave until near the time, or are flexible on where you go. Destinations like Tenerife and Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey and Hurghada in Egypt, all have some fantastic family friendly resorts, often with free kids places.

Benidorm
Often known as a bit of a cheap and cheerful holiday destination, Benidorm is easy to get to, with loads of different accommodation types, from self catering apartments to all inclusive resorts. Plus there's plenty to see and do. If you've got fussy eating children, going self catering can allow you to eat out as much as you like and buy certain food and drink from the local supermarket.
Antalya
There are lots of huge resorts in Antalya. This part of Turkey is really popular for all sorts of holidays, including family holidays because so many of the hotels have loads of great facilities on offer, like water parks, kids' clubs, beachfront locations and plenty of restaurants. Plus because they are big, they have plenty of rooms to fill, so late deals on family holidays are often possible.
Tenerife
If it's a a family holiday in winter, head to the Canary Islands, and more specifically, Tenerife. Plenty of year-round flights, even in December and January, from across the UK make this Spanish island easy to get to. And there's plenty on offer too. Cheap self catering apartments in places like Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, allow you the freedom to dine where and when you want, while the 5-star resorts of Costa Adeje offer all inclusive options too.
Greece
Greece is another popular option for families, so take your pick from the fantastic range of Greek Islands on offer. Rhodes, Crete and Corfu are all popular options with larger resorts that cater well for the little ones. Be flexible at the last minute though to get the best deals.
Caribbean & Mexico
Last minute holidays in the Caribbean and Mexico aren't as expensive as you might think. While the longer flight and extra costs mean that free child places in the Caribbean aren't really a thing, there are still some great discounts to be had in destinations like Cancun, Barbados, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
What Are Free Child Places & How Do They Work?
Free child places are holidays which allow one child within the group to go free. That's flights, accommodation, airport transfers and all meals and drinks. Great huh?! Usually two full paying adults need to be on the booking for a child to qualify for the discount. And hotels have different age requirements, so one hotel in Greece might allow a maximum age of 12 for the free place, while another hotel might be 16. Infants under 2 usually go free anyway. The two paying adults will need to share a room with the child.
