Unsure where offers the best family friendly deals at the last minute? We've done our research to hand pick some of our favourite destinations which regularly have late deals at family hotels.

Benidorm

Often known as a bit of a cheap and cheerful holiday destination, Benidorm is easy to get to, with loads of different accommodation types, from self catering apartments to all inclusive resorts. Plus there's plenty to see and do. If you've got fussy eating children, going self catering can allow you to eat out as much as you like and buy certain food and drink from the local supermarket.

Antalya

There are lots of huge resorts in Antalya. This part of Turkey is really popular for all sorts of holidays, including family holidays because so many of the hotels have loads of great facilities on offer, like water parks, kids' clubs, beachfront locations and plenty of restaurants. Plus because they are big, they have plenty of rooms to fill, so late deals on family holidays are often possible.

Tenerife

If it's a a family holiday in winter, head to the Canary Islands, and more specifically, Tenerife. Plenty of year-round flights, even in December and January, from across the UK make this Spanish island easy to get to. And there's plenty on offer too. Cheap self catering apartments in places like Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, allow you the freedom to dine where and when you want, while the 5-star resorts of Costa Adeje offer all inclusive options too.

Last minute holidays in the Caribbean and Mexico aren't as expensive as you might think. Cruises don't often have free child places but they can be great for snapping up a last minute bargain. Cruise ships set sail whether the cabins are full or not. And if there are empty ones, cruise lines like P&O, NCL, Royal Caribbean and MSC would prefer they are filled, even at a discount. So keep an eye on last minute cruise deals too.

Ski Holidays

Free child places on ski holidays are also a thing with Crystal Ski. There isn't as much available for free spaces on ski holidays so you might not find the best deals at the last minute, but keep your eyes peeled as you never known what ski deals are out there.

Even if you can't get a free child place holiday, there are still other ways you can save money on a late family holiday.

Discount Codes

If you're spending over a certain amount of money (which, let's face it, when you're going on holiday with a family, you're bound to), you can save money by using discount codes at the check-out. Check the latest TUI discount codes or Jet2 discount codes to see what's available. It might only apply to certain destinations or certain travel dates but it could end up saving you hundreds of pounds.

Last Minute Price Drops

Holiday companies are often keen to sell their allocations, which can mean late deals and last minute price drops. They don't like you to get used to this but it can happen. It often relies on hotels and airlines dropping the price of their rooms and seats but soe of the best deals are at the last minute.

Cancellation Holidays

Cancellation holidays aren't such a big thing nowadays but they do happen. TUI has a no deposit scheme, allowing you to secure the price of your holiday without actually having to pay a penny. So many people will book, but end up cancelling their holiday, leaving they flight seats and room allocation to go empty. Tour operators are keen to fill these back up.

There are two many tour operators which offer free child places, which are TUI and Jet2holidays. This is because they sell their own flights and have allocations with hotels so have much more control over what they sell and the prices they sell at, even in the school summer holidays. Other operators like easyJet Holidays, On The Beach and loveholidays don't generally have free child places but may have other discounts in place to help reduce the price.

TUI has a great free child place finder tool. Simply enter your details and see what's on offer. It will highlight which deals have free child places.

Jet2holidays

Another excellent tool is the Jet2 free child place finder. You can either search for a holiday and filter by free child place offers (indicated by a smiley face), or if you're flexible on the destination, you can choose the date and it will show how many free child place holidays are available on those dates.

lastminute.com

Despite the name, lastminute.com doesn't always have the best package holiday deals for families, and they certainly don't offer free space for children.

Regional Departures

Another great thing about Jet2 and TUI is that they have loads of regional departures, ranging from Belfast in Northern Ireland and Edinburgh in Scotland, to Bournemouth and Bristol in the south of England. This can also save you money because you can fly from your local airport instead of having to drive to a big hub airport like London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds Bradford to get the best deals.
