Golf Del Sur Holidays 2019/2020

Getting to Golf del Sur

One of the great reasons to stay in the Golf del Sur is how close it is to the airport. Once you've landed, you can jump in a taxi and be at your hotel or apartment in just 10-15 minutes, and if you're part of an organised coach transfer, you'll be one of the first stops.

Taxis to the area cost around €10-15 each way including tip and can be picked up from outside the arrivals area of the airport. Car hire in Tenerife can start from as little as €9 per day and is a great way to have some freedom in case you want to get out and explore other areas of Tenerife.

Worried about the aircraft noise? Fear not, while the planes do fly over Amarilla Golf and the Golf del Sur as they come into land, Tenerife airport isn't like many other holiday airports. Late night flights are not allowed, so you'll find that you'll still be able to get a good night's sleep.

For those really on a budget, there is a bus service that goes from Tenerife South Airport to the area, including Amarilla Golf and San Blas. Tickets are just a couple of Euros, however, it is worth leaving plenty of time when heading back to the airport for your flight, as the buses don't run too often. Check online for the latest timetables.

Things to do in Golf del Sur

The Golf del Sur is one of Tenerife's quieter resorts but it does still offer a range of bars and restaurants, and activities. Of course, if you are hiring a car, you've got the whole of Tenerife that can be explored, but here are our top things to do in the Golf del Sur:

The Submarine Safari is very popular excursion for those visiting the Golf, and even those who are staying elsewhere. 18.5m long submarine can reach a maximum depth of 60m, however, the excursions only really go to a depth of about 25-30m. It's an easy walk down to San Miguel Marina, however, if you are staying in other areas, a coach transfer is included in the price of your ticket. Ticket prices start from €45 for adults and €27.20 for children if booked online and in advance. The Submarine Safari in Tenerife is a sure hit with kids too.

Dinner in Los Abrigos, a quieter marina, is a lovely way to spend the evening. Stroll along the coast and pick one of the numerous restaurants that line the promenade. Be sure to try a freshly cuaght fish from the sea that day, combined with the famous Canarian Potatoes.

The two golf clubs are also another popular way to spend the day. With views one way of the ocean and views the other way of stunning Mt Teide, the two courses (Amarilla Golf and Golf del Sur), are popular with golf fanatics. And even if you're not, a round of pitch and putt is still fun.

Playa de la Tejita, located a little further along the coast, is this areas popular sandy beach. While most beaches in Golf del Sur are pebble or rocky, Playa de la Tejita is sandy, under the watchful eye of the Red Rock.

Where to stay in Golf del Sur

Golf del Sur has become very popular as a holiday home destination so there is a good range of apartments in the area that are rented as holiday accommodation for when the owners aren't there. Try the likes of AirBNB or even ask your family and friends if they know of anyone with an apartment. You might be surprised.

If it's a hotel you'd rather though, there are also a number to choose from, ranging from small B&Bs to the luxury Sandos San Blas Resort. Hotels like the Vincci Tenerife Golf and the Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean Club also offer sea view rooms. A large five star resort is also being built in the area, which, once completed will be the Fantasia Bahia Principe Hotel, a stunning family orientated hotel, with a magical theme.
