Getting to Golf del Sur

One of the great reasons to stay in the Golf del Sur is how close it is to the airport. Once you've landed, you can jump in a taxi and be at your hotel or apartment in just 10-15 minutes, and if you're part of an organised coach transfer, you'll be one of the first stops.

Taxis to the area cost around €10-15 each way including tip and can be picked up from outside the arrivals area of the airport. Car hire in Tenerife can start from as little as €9 per day and is a great way to have some freedom in case you want to get out and explore other areas of Tenerife.

Worried about the aircraft noise? Fear not, while the planes do fly over Amarilla Golf and the Golf del Sur as they come into land, Tenerife airport isn't like many other holiday airports. Late night flights are not allowed, so you'll find that you'll still be able to get a good night's sleep.

For those really on a budget, there is a bus service that goes from Tenerife South Airport to the area, including Amarilla Golf and San Blas. Tickets are just a couple of Euros, however, it is worth leaving plenty of time when heading back to the airport for your flight, as the buses don't run too often. Check online for the latest timetables.

Golf

Popular with golfers, the two golf clubs are also another favourite way to spend the day. With views one way of the ocean and views the other way of stunning Mt Teide, the two golf courses (Amarilla Golf and Golf del Sur), are popular with golf fanatics. And even if you're not, a round of pitch and putt is still fun.

Weather in Golf Del Sur

Weather

Unlike mainland Spain, Tenerife enjoys year-round warm weather which is why so many Brits flock here for winter. The weather in Golf del Sur is much like the other holiday resorts in the south of the island like Costa del Silencio and Los Cristianos, which is sunny and warm. Tenerife has its own micro-climate and you'll find the weather in the north can be cloudier and colder, while the south is warmer.

In the summer months of June, July and August, the temperatures can get well into the 30s which is when you'll need that pool. In winter, you can still get some fabulous sunshine and warm sunny days in December, January and February but you have more chance of cloud and rain than other times of the year.
