Cheap Holidays to the Golf del Sur
Just a quick 10-15 minute drive from Tenerife's South Airport and you'll hit the quiet but popular area of the Golf del Sur. Popular with both holidaymakers and relocated expats, a holiday in the Golf del Sur offers all you need for a getaway in the Canarian sunshine.
Golf Del Sur Holidays Guide
The popular holiday resort of Golf del Sur has become more and more popular for holidays and expats looking to retire in the sunshine meaning there is a whole host of accommodation in the area. There are a number of hotels that can be enjoyed, however, with many European's buying apartments as a second home, there's a great choice of self catering apartments in the area.
Nightlife in the Golf del Sur isn't anywhere near as lively as what you might find in areas like Los Cristianos and Las Americas, however, you're likely to find the more clubby places in the Golf are in the hotel bars. Fear not though. Las Americas is just a 15 minute taxi ride away if you do want to head out to a club or a bit of a wilder night.
There are still a number of great restaurants in Golf del Sur that open late, ranging from local Spanish tapas to mixed cuisine including Japanese and Thai. Be sure to try some of the local specialities, including locally sourced fish and Canarian potatoes.
Getting to Golf del Sur
One of the great reasons to stay in the Golf del Sur is how close it is to the airport. Once you've landed, you can jump in a taxi and be at your hotel or apartment in just 10-15 minutes, and if you're part of an organised coach transfer, you'll be one of the first stops.
Taxis to the area cost around €10-15 each way including tip and can be picked up from outside the arrivals area of the airport. Car hire in Tenerife can start from as little as €9 per day and is a great way to have some freedom in case you want to get out and explore other areas of Tenerife.
Worried about the aircraft noise? Fear not, while the planes do fly over Amarilla Golf and the Golf del Sur as they come into land, Tenerife airport isn't like many other holiday airports. Late night flights are not allowed, so you'll find that you'll still be able to get a good night's sleep.
For those really on a budget, there is a bus service that goes from Tenerife South Airport to the area, including Amarilla Golf and San Blas. Tickets are just a couple of Euros, however, it is worth leaving plenty of time when heading back to the airport for your flight, as the buses don't run too often. Check online for the latest timetables.

The Golf del Sur is one of Tenerife's quieter resorts but it does still offer a range of bars and restaurants, and activities. Of course, if you are hiring a car, you've got the whole of Tenerife that can be explored, but here are our top things to do in the Golf del Sur:
The Submarine Safari is very popular excursion for those visiting the Golf, and even those who are staying elsewhere. 18.5m long submarine can reach a maximum depth of 60m, however, the excursions only really go to a depth of about 25-30m.
